Sacramento – Natomas Unified School Board Trustee Micah Grant issued the following statement in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

During these difficult times, we should remind one another that we are all God’s children, bearing in mind perhaps the most famous quote of Dr. King: ‘I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.’ It’s my belief that we can get a lot further if we focus on what brings us together, rather than what brings us apart.

We, each of us, are flawed human beings. But endowed with the grace of God, we do have the power to better ourselves, and by doing so, lift up the communities which surround and support us. As evidenced by his incomparable legacy of human decency, no one in modern times has done more to remind us of the power within each of us to create a better world, than Doctor King.

Let’s recommit ourselves to his message of peace and unity. Please join me today in honoring his memory.
