We must do everything we can to protect our students and provide them with a safe and welcoming school environment and community.
That includes urging our congressional members to support the immediate funding of an expansion of mental health services to address precursors to violent behavior.
As such, I’ve sent Congresswoman Doris Matsui a letter requesting her support for an expansion of mental heath services, as well as urging her to consider supporting instituting background checks for person-to-person transfers and gun show sales.
The tragic and heartbreaking events in Florida are a stark reminder that we must do everything we can to protect our students. I hope you will join me in these efforts.
